Medical Nutrition Specialist
Training or Education and Experience:
Minimum of one year of clinical experience preferred. Must be Registered and Licensed Dietitian. Must have excellent human relation skills to interface with doctors, other referral sources and patients.
Job Duties:
Responsibilities include the following essential functions:
Formulate, revise, and maintain enteral nutrition patient care plans based on physician orders and assessment findings including the identification of patient problems/needs, goals and actions and interventions relating to the care or service provided.
Perform assessments/reassessments of each patient’s care or service throughout the patient’s contact with the organization including physical assessments; psychosocial assessments; functional assessments; and activity assessments as appropriate.
Monitor patient’s response to the enteral care or services provided, the actions or interventions taken, and the outcome of the care or service provided.
Educate patients with relation to their enteral feeding to facilitate safe and effective use and desired care, treatment and service outcomes.
Establish and maintain a relationship with referral sources in the medical community. Responsible for obtaining a predetermined number of enteral referrals per month.
Identify and develop new referral sources. Prepare for and participate in trade shows, exhibits, and advertising campaigns.
Prepare and submit approved plans for sales territory management.
Facilitate prescription collection and assist in gather necessary information to ensure efficient and proper billing of enteral DME.
Maintains current knowledge of enteral home care techniques and relevant enteral therapy concepts.
