Our History
1879
Carl von Linde founded Linde in Wiesbaden, Germany, to sell mechanical refrigeration systems for the beer brewing industry.
1907
Linde Air Products is formed in the United States as a subsidiary of Linde.
1917
Union Carbide Corporation purchases The U.S.-based Linde Air Products company, as a result of expropriation in the turmoil of the First World War.
1972
The Linde Homecare Medical Systems division was formed within Union Carbide.
1987
Union Carbide spins off Linde Homecare Medical Systems as Lincare Inc.
1991
Lincare Holdings goes public on the NASDAQ.
2012
The Linde Group purchases Lincare Holdings for $4.6 Billion. Lincare is now back in the Linde Family.
2018
Merger of Equals of Praxair and Linde; now named Linde plc.
