Symptoms of Cerebral Palsy

The symptoms and severity of cerebral palsy vary from person to person but may include:

Difficulty with muscle control
Uncontrolled movements
Spasms

Poor balance and coordination
Favoring one side of the body
Difficulty with fine motor skills

Stiff muscles
Eye muscle imbalance
Tremors or jerking involuntary movements

Cerebral Palsy Risk Factors:

Some factors that increase the risk of Cerebral Palsy include:

Low birth weight (children who weigh less than 5 ½ pounds)
Premature birth
Multiple births – twins, triples, and other multiple births have a high risk of CP
Assisted reproduction technology / Infertility treatments
Infections during pregnancy
Jaundice and kernicterus
Birth complications
