DVT Treatment
Blood Thinners
Medications, such as blood thinners, may be prescribed as part of DVT treatment. Blood thinners are used to prevent clots from getting bigger and to decrease the risk of further DVTs. For larger DVTs, other medications can be used to break up the clot. If you are taking blood thinners to treat DVT, weekly PT/INR self-testing could reduce the risk of your blood clotting by providing reliable, real-time results from home. Lincare's mdINR program allows you to check your PT/INR levels at home rather than going to your practitioner's office or a lab. You also receive immediate counseling and education.
