Skin Debridement

Skin debridement is performed to remove dead or infected skin and clean and disinfect the area so it can properly heal. Most skin ulcers occur on the bottom of the foot, and after debridement, it's often necessary to stay off the foot while it heals.

NPWT

Diabetic ulcer treatment typically involves proper wound management, including applying topical medication and dressing. Negative Pressure Wound Therapy helps to heal a diabetic ulcer by gently removing drainage and assisting to pulling the edges of the wound closed to allow for healing. This is a standard treatment for hard to heal diabetic wounds.

Medication Management

In some cases, a diabetic ulcer may put a patient at risk for a deeper infection that can then spread to the bloodstream. To avoid this, your practitioner may prescribe medication as part of diabetic ulcer treatment. Oral and topical medications can help decrease bacteria and prevent further infection.

How We Can Help

Patients who receive a manufactured valve will almost always require a blood-thinning medication for the rest of their lives. The blood thinner will keep clots from forming. Living with a Mechanical Heart Valve can be challenging, but you're not in it alone. Lincare’s affiliates are here for you and provide at Home PT/INR Testing. The INR Testing program may improve health-related quality of life while receiving the medical treatment you need.
