Prioritizing Safety and Communication
As wildfire warnings escalated, the Chatsworth team immediately prioritized open lines of communication. Throughout the day, team members coordinated closely with each other and the Lincare Safety department, ensuring that no detail was overlooked as winds intensified and warnings became more severe. The team's top priority was clear: the safety of all employees and patients. This proactive approach proved invaluable as evacuation notices came into effect.
Despite several team members being displaced and evacuated, there was a silver lining—no lives or properties were lost among the team. Once the immediate safety of each employee was confirmed, especially ensuring those displaced were in secure environments, attention quickly shifted to serving the community.
Commitment to Patient Care
In the midst of uncertainty and chaos, the Chatsworth team demonstrated unwavering commitment to patient care. The magnitude and impact of the fires were unknown, yet those who could make it to work did so without hesitation. Their mission was to assist individuals displaced and without power, ensuring their essential health needs were met.
A dedicated sales team member led the on-site team with exceptional efficiency coordinated hospital discharges and helped distribute oxygen tanks to displaced patients who reached out to the Center. Meanwhile, a dedicated team of drivers delivered tanks to areas unaffected by the fires, ensuring that no patient was left without necessary support.
At the Center, a team of Customer Service Representatives (CSRs) worked tirelessly to assist any displaced patients who could make it in for tank pickups. The team's unified efforts to support impacted individuals truly embodied the Lincare spirit.
A Community United
The Chatsworth team's remarkable efforts were amplified by the support of surrounding Centers and the compassion of patients unaffected by the fires. Many patients offered to forgo their regular deliveries or offered their tanks to help those in dire need. This selflessness and solidarity underscored the CADU (Caring, Accountable, Dedicated & United) spirit, extending beyond employees to encompass the entire LA community.
In these challenging times, the Chatsworth team's actions have been nothing short of inspiring. Their dedication and compassion have not only supported our patients and community but have also set a shining example of what it means to come together in a time of need. As we reflect on these efforts, we are reminded of the strength found in unity and the profound impact of caring for one another.
